Valerie Geller has guest lectured or been an adjunct at The Columbia Graduate School of Journalism, Pepperdine University, The University of Southern California (USC), (NYU) the New York University Film School, Hunter College, Landmark College in Vermont, and New York’s Stonybrook University among others throughout the world.
IN THE BEGINNING… Geller was the former program director of WABC in New York, executive producer of KFI in Los Angeles and news director at K-101 FM in San Francisco. Before that she was a reporter at KTAR in Phoenix, a talkshow host at KOA in Denver and at WPLP in Tampa.
Before that she worked at various stations in Grand Rapids, Michigan and Casper, Wyoming and her native Los Angeles.
BOARD MEMBERSHIPS / AWARDS
Geller has served as an elected National board member of the Associated Press Broadcasters and APTRA, (Associated Press Radio and Television Association and the (RTDNA)Radio & TV News Directors News Assn. She currently serves on the board of directors for the IRTS (International Radio & TV) and is a judge for their audio and video NY Festivals Awards. She has long held a place on Radio Ink’s “Most Influential Women in Radio” list and serves on the board of MIW, which helps mentor women in Radio. Shes received numerous awards including the Associated Press, RTNDA, the Los Angeles Press Club and was honored with the Conclave’s prestigious Rockwell Lifetime Achievement Award for Broadcasting.
